Make a left hand turn at the store and head down the river for another 22 miles and you will find Shoup, Idaho and the Gold Hill MIne. Shoup has the distinction of being the last town in the US to get a telephone. John Hulihan and his wife Patty are longtime residents down here and run the tour at the Gold Hill Mine. John relates some of the history of this mine to rafters on a dayfloat down the river.
