Withington Fire 2003

The Withington Fire is threatening the Sunset Heights subdivision. Here are some photos taken from a vantage point across the valley and at Sunset Heights. The fire was actually started by lightening in the drainage behind these mountains,in the Pahsimeroi Valley. Increased winds have driven the fire over the mountains and down the other side to the grass lands down around the houses.
Image: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 All This tanker will have to fly clear back to Missoula to get a refill. He will then either return to this location or be redirected to another fire that is burning in the Montana, Idaho area. Currently there are many fires burning in Montana that need the services of this crew.
