FIRE OPERATIONS IN THE WILDLAND AND URBAN INTERFACE CLASS SET IN SALMON

SALMON, IDAHO – On Tuesday, May 30th and Wednesday May 31st the Salmon-Challis National Forest will be conducting a Fire Operations in the Wildland and Urban Interface (S-215) class.

This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to size-up a wildland/urban interface fire incident, evaluate the potential situation, order and deploy the necessary resources, and apply safe and effective strategy and tactics to minimize the threat to life and property.

Portions of this class will held in the Sunset Heights Subdivision to provide examples and talking points.  Students will learn skills needed to perform structure assessments and provide information that can be utilized in building structure assessment plans.  All students and staff will remain on the roads or roadsides and will not be on any private land without the expressed permission of that land owner.

The Forest looks forward to working with private landowners, and to share knowledge on wildland/urban interface situations not only internally with our employees but externally with the private landowners in the Sunset Heights Subdivision.
