Local Salmon

The last we left you with this story was when Megan (Not Michelle..was my fault) Tucker was busy in the shop being mentored by Don Moore an expert Blacksmith, creator, maker on her senior project. She wanted to give back to the library with a landscape sculpture that would stand the test of time. We got to see her learning the wonderful art of welding and bring a vision to life.

This project is to fund at least one half of the cost of a new/slightly used YANMAR SV08 1A Mini Excavator. Because our program is actively working with trail user groups we have other fundraising projects going on that are specific to trails and trail use. We expect that we cannot raise the total amount via these other projects so it is our hopes that we can gain support from individuals that value safe accesses to public lands.

Steele Memorial Medical Center (SMMC) in Salmon, Idaho, was recently named one of the Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) for overall performance and patient perspective in the country. There are a total of 1,339 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation. The Top 20 Critical Access Hospitals, including Steele Memorial Medical Center, scored best among critical access hospitals on iVantage Health Analytics’ Hospital Strength Index™ for overall performance and patient perspective. The rankings were recently announced by the National Rural Health Association (NRHA). An awards ceremony will be held during NRHA’s Critical Access Hospital Conference in September in Kansas City, Missouri. The Top 20 Critical Access Hospital “winners” are those hospitals that have achieved success in overall performance based on a composite rating from eight indices of strength: inpatient market share, outpatient market share, quality, outcomes, patient perspectives, costs, charges and financial stability. This group was selected from iVantage’s Top 100 CAH list released earlier this year...

Salmon is Number 2!

Salmon is a town clinging to an old wild west identity without the roughness. The western themed architecture and untouched surroundings might just make you feel like you’ve stepped back in time, especially if you’re a city slicker. You’ll have to venture over unpopulated and rugged terrain to arrive here if you come by car, but it’s worth it. Salmon is a great base for outdoorsmen, white water rafting, and is next to the Frank Church River of the No Return Wilderness Area. If you visit during winter, spend the days on the ski slopes, tucked into wooden cabins, and tasting comfort food at the town’s many restaurants.
