What Veterans Deserve by Eric K. Shinseki, Secretary of Veterans Affairs. Today, less than 1% of our population shoulders the responsibilities of our national defense through their service in uniform, and just over 7% of all living Americans are Veterans. Veterans Day presents the opportunity to ask ourselves, “For their selfless service and willing sacrifice, what do Veterans need and deserve?”
Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson ensured that critical wildfire suppression funding was included in must-pass legislation to avert a potential debt default and end the federal government shutdown. H.R. 2775 included vital funding—$600 million for the Forest Service and $36 million for the Department of the Interior—to restore wildfire suppression accounts that were emptied during the devastating 2013 fire season.
Idaho Department of Fish and Game advises Idaho hunters, anglers, trappers, and wildlife watchers of the following information about federal land closures related to the federal government shutdown. The Idaho Fish and Game is not authorized to enforce these federal closures. Idaho Fish and Game does not have information beyond that provided by federal press releases and through the www.usa.gov website.

As of October 1st the Federal Government is shut down until a continuing resolution or other funding bill can be approved by both the U.S. House and U.S. Senate and then signed by President Obama.
